An admirable and worthy vision…

Being described as a friend of Melythina Tiakana Warrana Aboriginal Corporation (MTWAC) by Aunty Patsy during a gathering at Tebrukunna was a privilege that I was able to share with like-minded friends last week.

The Welcome to Country and imagining of how the invasion of people from the ships felt through the eyes of the enduring custodians of the land was very moving.

Hearing about the plans MTWAC have to restore customs and practices which endured for tens of thousands of years was exciting and not without challenges. It was very clear MTWAC have lofty ambitions which are admirable and will need the collective support and creativity of many other parties to help realise their vision.

There was no shortage of goodwill amongst us all on country.

It was evident how changes to the landscape have already begun to occur under the wisdom of the oldest living culture – seeing firsthand how the vegetation is starting to return to how it always was, shows us just what is possible.

KEEN Partners has been associated with MWTAC for a few years now and look forward to partnering to support the important task of bringing back the practices which sustained the land.
